The Skorpios island is prepared for a glamorous party atmosphere for the 25th birthday of the owner and daughter of the Russian tycoon, Katia Rybolovleva. The prequel of the three-day long upcoming party of Katia Rybolovleva on Skorpios island has been marred by bad weather and strong winds.
The daughter of Russian tycoon Dmitry Rybolovlev chose “her paradise on earth” to celebrate her 25th birthday. The Skorpios island is prepared for a glamorous party atmosphere of the owner and daughter of the Russian tycoon, Katia Rybolovleva.
A number of visitors, including fellow students and her father’s business partners have been arriving to Skorpios Island. Their lodgings? A mini cruise ship provided for them. The fickle weather, however has not allowed them to enjoy the sea and sun for which Katia kept talking about.
The birthday party will be this year’s social event since many Russian politicians, businessmen, football stars and models will be attending. It is expected that three representatives of the Principality of Monaco, namely Prince Albert of Monaco, who is a good friend of Katia’s father, Dmitry Rybolovlev, his wife Charlene and his niece Charlotte Casiraghi, who is a very good friend of the birthday girl, Ekaterina Rybolvovleva, will be among the guests. Finally, Nikos Anastasiadis, president of Cyprus will be attending the party. Rumour has it that an invitation will be sent to Aristotle Onassis’ only heiress, his granddaughter Athina, although the probability of her accepting it is very small. Beyonce and Paschalis Terzis will be among the Ιnternational celebrities invited.
The party’s preparations will carry on until late on Wednesday afternoon, while the hosts have prepared live music performances for those who have already arrived and will be dining there.
Obviously at an event of such magnitude, security is tight. Besides the family’s army of bodyguards, the Lefkada port authority has been recruited, in order to prevent approache to the island.The 25 year old tall blonde girl has decided to combine her birthday with her charity activity. “I asked my friends not to bring me any gifts but donate some money to my foundation to assist local charities,” Katia stated a few days ago in an interview in the French magazine “Paris Match”.
Guests who have arrived at Skorpios Island and some workers are staying at the mini cruise ship which has anchored off the island. Few of the guests came by their own private jets and some of them came by their yachts.The party will start early in the afternoon and guest will have the opportunity to taste great food with strong Greek influence, cocktails and champagne.
Also, various activities and games like treasure hunt where players will be dressed as pirates are scheduled. Late in the evening, the party will continue with DJs playing music to entertain guests. Of course a lot will depend on the weather which seems to be biggest “risk” since yesterday rain and strong winds did not allow guests to enjoy the sun and sea. According to a publication in the Sunday edition of the Greek daily Ethnos the preparation for the big event started several months ago. In early March, Ekaterina was on the island to personally inspect the course of the preparation works.
During the celebrations, the whole island of Skorpios will be illuminated. According to the publication in Ethnos, Ekaterina has requested the inclusion of Greek, French and Russian dishes on the menu. The wine will come from the neighbouring Lefkada Island and the champagne from France. Private jets will land at the airport in Aktio and luxury yachts will anchor around the island. The security measures will be draconian.
The Rybolvovlev family party will again turn Onassis’ “heaven on earth” into the centre of social life. Skorpios was visited by various representatives of the Kennedy family, Maria Callas, the ship-owning Livanos family, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, kings, holders of other noble titles and many more.
